Cuttyhunk STEAM Academy
An Island Classroom
INVESTIGATE – INITIATE – INNOVATE

Congratulations to Astrid, Aiden and Destiny for taking a Silver Medal (2nd of 11 teams) at Skills USA States this weekend in the Engineering Technology competition. Their project was titled Wind Energy Study and documented the collaborative project GNBRVTHS has been working on with Michelle at the Cuttyhunk STEAM Academy.
Kudos to Dr. Robert Southerland and Thomas Canastra, junior and senior GNBVT engineering educators, who were instrumental partners throughout this wind energy collaboration.

The Cuttyhunk STEAM Academy engages participants in learning through STEAM, place-based, and Citizen Science programs in this innovative island setting. By leveraging the island’s natural resources, including neighboring islands and surrounding waters, the Cuttyhunk STEAM Academy provides distinctive high-quality educational and enrichment programs for today’s youth. The Academy experience can also support the social and emotional learning through collaborative and cooperative activities, leadership skills, and other fellowship opportunities.
Designed primarily for overnight program experiences, the Academy supports day program opportunities.
