A Healthy Watershed
Investigate water quality by conducting biological, chemical, and physical assessments. Explore the differences in value between the frequency and location of data collection along a watershed over time. Examine the effects of development on a watershed from immediate and surrounding communities.

Climate Change
Probe the concept of climate change and how it can affect a community. Examine barrier beaches, docks, cliffs, etc. to analyze strategies for adaptation or mitigation. Explore an eelgrass meadow to learn about its place in the marine environment.

Ocean Exploration & Marine Biology
Examine the connection between ocean acidification and shell-building organisms, the relationship between salinity, temperature, and density, and how they play a role in the layers within the ocean. Explore the ocean zones and some common organisms that live in each zone.
The Cuttyhunk STEAM Academy Curricular Program provides options of daily, multi-day, including week-long study to better meet your school district curricular needs. Additional units of study are available and consideration would be given to further individualize a program. STEAM units support a cross-curricular alignment with Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks and Next Generation Science Standards.
